A couple of dollars a month. Gets you the Google load-able map, stickers and patches, limited-run merch and yearly Christmas cards.
Join on PatreonBunk-a-Biker is free to use and always will be. The map is free, contacting a host is free, and hosting is free — hosts never pay, for anything, ever.
It is not free to run. There are paid services behind it and a great deal of one person's time, and what is not covered by contributions comes out of Zee's pocket.
Membership pays for the extra tools, for riders who want them:
Plan a trip from a GPX file and see which hosts sit along your route, ordered by how far into the ride they are.
Offline map packs, so the map works where the signal does not.
Corridor search — everyone within a set distance of a route rather than a point.
Planning on a computer and picking it up on the phone.
None of that changes anything about the network itself. A member does not get a better position on the map, a faster answer, or any standing a non-member lacks. Everything Bunk-a-Biker is actually for stays free.
Hosts are welcome to join if they want the tools, or simply to put something back — but hosting has never cost anything and never will.
All of these go to the same place. Pick whichever is least trouble for you.
